Pools for DINK Households
For double-income, no-kids households, the backyard is a private retreat — a place for morning coffee, an after-work cool-down, and weekend cocktails under the stars. An Inflatable Pool Factory soaking pool delivers that ritual without construction: rigid drop-stitch walls that look architectural rather than toy-like, and a footprint sized for a patio or courtyard.
Low water volume keeps filling, heating, and chemical care light, and when a travel week or the off-season arrives, the pool deflates into a storage footprint that fits a garage shelf.
Is this the right fit?
A level spot from about 1.8 × 1.8 m on a patio, deck, or courtyard rated for the water weight
Renters and homeowners who cannot or do not want to build a permanent pool
Households that prefer compact soaking over lap swimming
A drainage route for regular water changes
For double-income, no-kids households, a pool is not a playground — it is a design object and a daily ritual. It has to look right on a styled patio, set up in minutes, sip water and chemicals instead of drinking them, and disappear when a travel week or the off-season arrives. That is a different brief from a family pool, and it is exactly what compact drop-stitch soaking pools are built to answer.
This guide covers the space, the water routine, and the practical limits of a two-person pool setup.
1. Design-Led, Not Toy-Like
Cheap inflatable pools clash with a considered outdoor space: sagging bright-vinyl walls, bulging seams, and a footprint that takes over the patio. A drop-stitch pool behaves differently. Inflated to its rated 4–5 PSI operating pressure, the walls form straight, clean vertical lines with a neutral exterior that reads closer to a plastered plunge pool than a beach toy.
The result is a pool that sits comfortably next to teak furniture, planters, and architectural lighting — and that you will not feel the need to deflate every time guests come over.
2. Sizing for Two
A couple’s soak does not need a swimming footprint. What matters is depth for a proper soak and a shape that fits the space:
| Setup | Size (catalog reference) | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Round SPA tub | Ø 1.8 × 0.8 m (RS1808) | Classic two-person soak with built-in seats |
| Compact square tub | 2.1 × 1.6 × 0.8 m (SS211608) | Fits a rectangular patio zone |
| Square tub | 2 × 2 × 0.8 m (SS202008) | Symmetrical courtyard centerpiece |
| Small splash pool | Ø 2 × 0.5 m (S2005) | Quick cool-down dips, lowest water volume |
Built-in seats and the 5 mm insulated thermal bottom on SPA tubs mean longer, more comfortable soaks with less water to manage than any permanent-plunge equivalent.
3. The Weekly Water Routine
Small volume is the hidden luxury of a two-person pool. The entire water-care routine fits inside ten minutes a week:
- Filtration: a compact cartridge or sand filter pump connected to the standard ports, run a few hours a day on a timer.
- Sanitizer: a floating dispenser with slow-dissolving tablets, or gentle liquid treatment after heavy use — small volumes need small doses.
- Refresh: with volumes this low, a full drain-and-refill is a realistic weekly option using the garden-hose-compatible drain valve. Many couples simply prefer fresh water every week.
Our maintenance guide covers the full routine.
4. Setup, Travel, and Storage
- Setup: the included 1000W electric pump inflates the rigid hull in 5–15 minutes; positioning and setup is typically 15–30 minutes, and filling takes longer depending on pool size and water supply. See the setup guide.
- Weekend rhythm: inflate once for the season and keep it covered between soaks, or inflate on demand for a truly occasional ritual.
- Travel and off-season: deflate, fold, and pack into the storage bag — the packed footprint fits a garage shelf or a large closet, and the patio is fully yours again.
5. Weight, Balconies, and Structural Reality
Important: water is heavy — about 1 tonne per cubic metre. A 1.8 m tub filled to 0.6 m holds roughly 1.5–2 t.
- Ground-level patios, paved yards, and level lawn areas are the safe defaults.
- Do not place a filled pool on an elevated balcony, rooftop terrace, or raised timber deck without written confirmation from a qualified structural engineer that the structure carries the load.
- A protective ground cloth under the hull cushions the floor and shields the base from patio grit.
6. Make It Yours
Because these pools fold flat and set up without tools or construction, they are unusually easy to live with over years: reposition the pool as the garden evolves, take it along when you move, and store it through winter without a single permanent change to the property. Browse the shop for sizes, or use Find Your Pool to narrow the range in three questions.

Most two-person setups land on a 1.8–2.2 m tub: enough depth to soak properly, small enough to refresh the water weekly.
Safety notes
- Verify the load rating of balconies and elevated decks with a qualified engineer before filling — water weighs about 1 t per m³.
- Follow the heater manufacturer’s temperature guidance for hot soaking; avoid alcohol before or during hot-water use.
- Keep electrical connections to heaters and pumps away from the water edge, per the product manual.
- Use the drain valve for controlled emptying toward a garden or drain, not across paving.
